She has previously owned businesses in catering and event planning as well as construction hauling. Before Akia ventured into entrepreneurship, she worked in the areas of industrial scientific research and development as well as oncolgy research and genomics. Akia found her niche as a Realtor, which gave her the opportunity to combine her experience as an accomplished entrepreneur with her love of interacting with people and making a difference in their lives.
